5G vs 4G: what’s the difference?
5G is making its way around the UK, but it’s not the end for 4G! 4G is still the bedrock of our network, connecting people to the services they need and love, right across the UK.

Every day, engineers are building new 4G sites in rural parts of the UK, giving communities a digital connection for the first time.

Unlike 3G to 4G, 5G is not a replacement for 4G. It adds another layer to the network to provide more capacity in the busiest parts of the UK’s busiest cities. Our 5G smart hubs switch between 4G and 5G depending on signal strength.

Prior to installation, we check the strongest mobile signal in your area using a coverage heat map system. We then select the most suitable SIM card and pre-configure the hub with the optimal network settings before dispatch. This enables the hub to connect to the strongest available mobile signal tower in your location, helping to provide the best possible connection from the outset.
